“Man vs. Giant”, commonly known as “Yhorm vs. Ashen One”, is a meme in which the Ashen One, the protagonist and player character of Dark Souls 3, is pitted against Yhorm the Giant from the game.
Origin
The original image that was used to produce the meme was submitted to Pixiv on March 23, 2016, by the user Tatsuya. In the six years since it was uploaded, the image has earned 40,000 views and 4,500 likes. Later, on January 28, 2018, the picture was submitted on the website Pictame when it was used to indicate to someone's love for a Goth Girl who works at Gamestop.
Meaning
In most cases, the meme template is intended to illustrate an insurmountable barrier that is depicted as being quite intimidating. In certain instances the giant can also portray something specially exaggerated relative to a small object or person.
