“Carrie Bradshaw at Big's Door” is a caption meme built on a still from Sex and the City showing Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) standing in Mr. Big's doorway in a top hat, a riding crop clenched between her teeth, while Big (Chris Noth) stares back at her. The still comes from "La Douleur Exquise!", the 12th episode of the show's second season, which aired on HBO on August 22nd, 1999. The episode opens with Carrie showing up at Big's apartment in the costume, and she later finds out he's moving to Paris. Bloggers were captioning the frame as early as 2014, when a WordPress user posted it with the line "Not another Jehovah's Witness."
It took off in July 2024, when X user @naked_dog_gif posted a GIF of the scene with the caption "SHE'S SO EMBARRASSING but her body is tea so I can't stay mad," which picked up over 50,000 likes before it was deleted. Captioned versions followed: @babyscallop's "me: you think im fuckin dumb? also me:" in December 2024, and @swag9000000's "how it feels to text first" in June 2025, both of which went viral.
Meaning
