Tiger Woods Big Dog

About
“Tiger Woods Big Dog”, also spelled Big Dawg, is a still of golfer Tiger Woods holding up one hand for a dap, looking flat and a little worn out, with the subtitle "Big dog." at the bottom. A caption above the image sets up who you're greeting, usually in the form "Me to [someone] after [something embarrassing]". It took off on Twitter/X in December 2023 and also turned up on TikTok and Reddit.
Origin
The frame comes from a clip the @PGATOUR account posted on December 17th, 2023, from the PNC Championship, a tournament where pros team up with a family member. Woods was playing with his son Charlie, and the "big dog" he's greeting is Charlie's caddie, Luke Wise. The PGA Tour captioned it "Just Tiger being Tiger."
The first known use as a meme came the next day, when @NoLayingUp posted it on December 18th and passed 41,000 likes in three days. Within a couple of days everyone was doing it. @bbburner_ got over 61,000 likes on December 20th with a joke about office holiday party behavior, and @mikehunnidproof took it literally with a post about meeting a very large dog.
Meaning
The meme is about trying to act cool and normal when you're anything but. Woods' tired face paired with a casual "big dog" fits the moment you greet someone with fake confidence: the bartender on your 11th drink, the Uber driver you ignored for the whole ride, the gate agent after a long stop at the airport bar.
The humor comes from how low-energy the greeting is. It's friendly, but there's nothing behind it, so people use it for awkward small talk, getting through a social situation on autopilot, or plain dog puns.
