Stop Raping, Ser

About
“Stop Raping, Ser” is a one-panel image macro built on a still from the HBO series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, showing Ser Duncan the Tall holding a sword out straight on an empty hillside with two horses behind him. The subtitle "Stop raping ser." is burned into the frame, so the template already carries its own punchline, and posters caption it by adding a setup line in a white bar above the image. It circulates mainly on Reddit, X/Twitter and Tumblr as a reaction image.
Origin
The shot comes from season one, episode one of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, titled "The Hedge Knight," which aired on January 18th, 2026. Dunk, played by Peter Claffey, has just buried his mentor Ser Arlan of Pennytree. He is talking to his horses, play-acting at being a knight or a city watch guard, and he points the sword at nothing and says the line completely flat.
People were quoting it the same night the episode went out. X user girlfailsansa posted the dialogue as a plain text tweet on January 18th and picked up roughly 2,400 likes, while user blt_on dropped a screencap into a House of the Dragon joke about Viserys Targaryen that ran past 550,000 views. The next day a redditor posted the still to /r/asoiafcirclejerk under the title "STOP RAPING, SAAR," and a Tumblr user shared a GIF version.
Meaning
The joke rests on how ordinary Dunk sounds. He isn't stopping anything, he's rehearsing, politely, in front of a horse. Bolting an unrelated setup line onto the still turns that deadpan into a stock response for scolding someone over something that is very obviously not going to stop.
Plenty of versions leave the original subtitle alone and let the top caption aim it at whatever the poster thinks is being ruined, usually a game, a show, or a book adaptation. Others swap the verb, which is where "Stop rating, ser," "Stop cooking, ser" and "Stop sacking, ser" come from. By the middle of 2026 it had wandered well outside Westeros threads, including a Darth Vader version on /r/PrequelMemes that cleared 13,000 upvotes.
