About

“Timothee Chalamet Frowning”, also called Timothee Chalamet Considering, is a reaction image of the actor pulling an exaggerated, thoughtful frown into a microphone. People put a caption above it about grudgingly accepting or thinking over something, usually in the "X when Y" or "Them: ... / Me:" format. It took off on X / Twitter and Instagram at the end of 2024.

Origin

The frame comes from Timothee Chalamet's interview with Nardwuar the Human Serviette, which went up on YouTube on December 25th, 2024, while Chalamet was promoting A Complete Unknown. Around the 48:54 mark Nardwuar asks why people should care about him and Bob Dylan. Chalamet pauses for a long time and makes the face.

The next day, X user @mikesmicYT posted a GIF of the moment with a Ratatouille caption about Gusteau's patrons learning a rat cooked their food, but it's low key delicious. That's the earliest known meme with the frown, and it got over 175,000 likes in three days. Other versions followed within the week, including a Christmas cookie joke from @alyssalimp that passed 100,000 likes.

Meaning

The face says "hm, okay, fair enough." It fits moments when someone weighs an idea they probably shouldn't like and ends up going along with it anyway: a bad habit, a weird food, a guilty pleasure.

A lot of captions are self-deprecating. Something sensible gets set up in the first line (eat a vegetable, watch a different movie, stop drinking), and the frown is the person quietly deciding to ignore it.
