Luke Skywalker Yeah

About
“Luke Skywalker Yeah” is a reaction image and image macro showing Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, standing in Jabba's palace with a blank, slightly smug look. A short caption sits across the top of the frame, usually some version of "Yeah" followed by a word for a friend. It gets posted on Instagram and X / Twitter as a flat, deadpan answer to whatever came before it.
Origin
The still comes from Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983), from the scene where Luke walks into Jabba's palace. As a meme, it showed up on Instagram as early as May 21st, 2023, when user zuccy123456 posted a low-res two-panel image. The top panel had Darth Vader holding a fistful of cash under the caption "My life a movie!" and the bottom panel was Luke answering "Yeah" plus a racial slur.
That version got reposted for the next couple of years, including a deep-fried edit in November 2025 that carried the joke on for several more panels. In June 2026 it took off on X / Twitter. On June 6th, user @StarvelingBard said the image kept making them laugh, the post passed 76,000 likes, and the replies filled up with edits. People dropped the Vader panel and swapped the second word for cleaner ones like "Yeah friend", "Yeah bud" and "No fella".
Meaning
Luke's line is agreement with no enthusiasm behind it at all. People post it to confirm something with a straight face, to go along with an obviously dumb claim, or to shut down a take by agreeing so flatly it reads as sarcasm. The "No fella" variant flips it into a refusal, but it's the same deadpan.
The friendly word swaps also made the image easy to share outside the crowd that knew the original. Most of the edits from the 2026 revival are single-panel and work fine without the Vader setup.
