The line belongs to Antinous, the ringleader of the suitors squatting in Odysseus' house, played by Robert Pattinson in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. Odysseus comes home disguised as a beggar to see how his household is being run, and Antinous sneers at him: Somebody get these beggars out of here. The film opened in mid-July 2026.
People started quoting it the same week. On July 17th, 2026, X user kiki_soccer70 posted the earliest known reference to the line, and on July 20th the account celestesangels shared the first clip of the scene to get real traction, passing 3.3 million views in a week. Captioned stills followed within days, and by late July the format was being written up by outlets including Forbes.
Meaning
It's a way to look down on somebody for asking for something free, or for wanting a cut of something they didn't pay for. The setup line names whoever is doing the asking, and Pattinson's smirk handles the rest. Most of the usage is deliberately petty: tip screens, friends splitting a bill, group chats hunting for a streaming password.
The tone is snobbery played for laughs rather than actual contempt, and the poster is usually casting themselves as the insufferable one. The quote also works on its own as a text-only catchphrase, with no picture attached.
