Sleepy Jerry in Bed With Phone

About
“Sleepy Jerry in Bed With Phone” shows Jerry the mouse lying in bed, eyes heavy with sleep, holding a smartphone close to his face. It gets used as a reaction to late-night phone use: scrolling past 3 AM, rereading a text, or watching "one more" video. Jerry's droopy, glazed look does all the work.
Origin
The image comes from the 1966 Tom and Jerry short Love Me, Love My Mouse, directed by Chuck Jones for MGM. In the original scene, Jerry is being pampered by Tom's crush and looks comfortable and content.
Someone photoshopped a phone into his hands, and it fit so naturally it looked intentional. Two edits spread together: a horizontal phone (often with earbuds) for watching videos, and a vertical one for texting or scrolling.
A post on X from May 22, 2026 used the image with a caption about people with ADHD staying up late for "me time." It reached a wide audience, with 11.5M views and 338K likes.
Meaning
It works because the expression is so specific. Jerry isn't excited, he's running on empty and still won't stop, which captures knowing you should sleep, knowing the phone is why you can't, and choosing the phone anyway. Tired, content, and faintly defeated all at once.
